“BLUE LINES: ASHBY X ANGEL” is a full‑journey project — a visual album built from my obsession with classic hip‑hop and jazz fusion tapes. I was deep into Madlib and Miles Davis’ “Blue Notes” collaboration when the idea hit me: I needed my own version of that timeless, dusty, soulful fusion. Something that felt like a lost tape you’d find in a crate, but with my fingerprints all over it.

I chose Dorothy Ashby as the core of the sound because her harp has this mysterious, spiritual quality that nobody else touches. It feels ancient and futuristic at the same time. My biggest inspirations were RZA and Madlib — the way they bend jazz into something raw, emotional, and cinematic. I wanted that same feeling, but filtered through my own world.

BLUE LINES is a classic to me. I’m proud to say I finally got it pressed on vinyl, because that’s exactly how I envisioned it while producing it — warm, textured, imperfect in all the right ways. A record you feel before you even understand it.

This project is a meditation, a collage, a late‑night experiment that turned into something bigger. It’s hip‑hop, it’s jazz, it’s soul, it’s atmosphere — all woven together through Ashby’s harp and my production.
